till yesterday, the benchmark for the best hindi movie was 3 idiots. but after watching pk, i would say that the benchmark should be changed. the same team that brought 3 idiots has brought another magnificent movie. everyone in the movie acted exceptionally well. the manner in which the social issues are depicted is very good. if we see the comedy aspects alone, 3 idiots is better. but if we see the social issues taken, pk is far better than the other movie. this is aamir's best performance till date. ranbir kapoor comes in a comical guest role. anushka sharma, sushant singh rajput and saurabh shukla are the other main characters.

pk is the biggest achievement of aamir khan's carrier and raju hiranis too. aamir acting and expressions deserve an oscar. the film has everything. emotion, drama, comedy, message which literally means perfection. pk was the toughest character for not just aamir khan but, for anyone in the bollywood industry. not only aamir, but anushka sharma and sanjay dutt did a very good job of their character which i think no one could have done. sushant rajput also did a fine job of his character.like everything in this film is perfect. i insist you to go and enjoy the film because it's like a word of mouth movie. pk is like a father of 3 idiots. first of all, aamir khan, oh my god, unbelievable..what an acting! he proved himself being called mr. perfectionist. as an alien he was superb. anushka looked quiet attractive in her new look and her acting was also nice. reast all other characters were upto the mark and all of them did their job very well, storyline was awesome. had a feeling of "koi mil gaya' and "oh my god' but it was something different and presented very well, at the end ranbir's entry was surprising. idiots, the team returns with pk, a film with very

manipulations of godmen who feed off it for profit.
these truths are skillfully illustrated when seen through
the eyes of an 'outsider', the film's otherworldly hero,

pk is propelled primarily by aamir khan's delightfully droll superstar turn as a nameless seer from outer space who is stranded on planet earth - in rajasthan and delhi to be precise.
this is an unlikely saga of an alien who lands in the desert completely naked like a new-born baby and then proceeds to acquire the ways of human adults in a bid to survive in a hostile environment.
his fate hinges on whether he can regain a stolen gadget that he needs in order to return to his home light years away and cling on to his purity as his brushes with mankind becomes increasingly hazardous.
in one of the film's quirkiest scenes, he learns the language of humans by drawing words out of the mind of a sleepy bhojpuri-speaking sex worker that he is led to by his only friend in the desert of rajasthan, band master bhairon singh (sanjay dutt).
the search for the remote control device that he needs to summon his spaceship back to earth eventually sees him end up in india's capital city.
there he encounters a tenacious television journalist jaggu sahni (anushka sharma), just back with a painful heartbreak in beautiful bruges.
he also comes up against a rapacious godman who is responsible for thwarting jaggu's marriage with her pakistani boyfriend sarfaraz yusuf (sushant singh rajput).
the girl, befuddled by the long-eared stranger's unpredictable and inexplicable powers and saddled with the 'breaking news' of a suicidal puppy, sells the story to the channel boss (boman irani).
once he finds his way on to the television screen, the unflappable extra-terrestrial unleashes a storm that sweeps everything and everyone in its way. and that most certainly includes the audience.
anushka sharma, playing a feisty poetry-loving girl who knows her mind far more than most hindi film heroines are allowed to, holds her own against aamir khan.
aamir revels in the character of the wide-eyed, fearless rebel who dares to challenge the societal and religious structures that encourage bigotry and distrust.
sushant singh rajput has only a cameo in pk but in the handful of scenes that he is in - including one in the run-up to the climax that ratchets up emotions and vigorously pulls the heartstrings - he gives a great account of himself.
do watch out for ranbir kapoor - a little icing on a cake so appetizing that it will have you clamouring for more.
pk is a winner all the way, a film that raj kapoor, bimal roy and guru dutt would have been proud of had they been alive. rajkumar hirani is without a doubt their most worthy standard-bearer.

in munna bhai mbbs he questioned the medical system, in lage raho munna bhai he introduced gandhigiri and in 3 idiots it was rancho doing his own number and questioning the education system. now rajkumar hirani takes on the much hyped godmen in india. yes the plot is similar to the 2012 release oh my god in which paresh rawal's character questions god and godmen. the similarity is just in the idea but hirani's pk is another level all together.
jaggu (anushka sharma) a journalist student in belguim falls in love with sarfaraz (sushant singh) from pakistan. her family back in new delhi believes in a hindu godman who predicts that sarfaraz will dump her which leads to some confusion and in no time a heartbroken jaggu heads back home.
an alien has landed somewhere in rajasthan and his locket which is his only way to return is stolen by a local. he has never seen humans in clothes and then starts the joyride as one by one the alien questions every manmade belief just like a child. after looking for his locket he is finally told that only god can help him whatever the problem may be.
his dressing and behaviour is weird so the name given to him is pk. he soon bumps into jaggu on a delhi metro while he is distributing pamphlets which say if anyone finds god they should contact pk. jaggu who now works as a journalist in a news channels finds pk fascinating and follows him till she gets his story out. initially hesitant jaggu eventually decides to help pk. his locket is with a popular godman and it's not going to be easy to get it back. aamir khan‘s much-awaited release is finally here and we are going gaga over it!forget every big film that you have seen this year and just watch pk for it is brilliance!what’s it about:aamir khan is an alien who gets stranded on planet earth with nothing on him, not even clothes. all he has is a remote to control his spaceship but the minute he lands on earth, the remote is stolen away from him (surprise, surprise!) a series of events make aamir (who is eventually called pk because his antics make him seem a drunkard) seek god, bust myths created in this world by the “managers of god” and most of all present the almighty in a whole new light! the film does look at crucial topics like religion, discrimination, flamboyance of idol worship, unsuspecting public’s belief in ‘god men’, but never does it become a boring and preachy lecture on the same.what’s hot:well, this could go on for a while. firstly, a big round of applause for aamir, rajkumar hirani and vidhu vinod chopra for making this story and giving us a grand family entertainer with some food for thought! pkwill make you ask the pressing question, “how does aamir do it!” the star has proven his mettle yet again and i couldn’t have pictured anybody but him as the weird, quirky yet endearing pk! anushka sharma lights up the screen as jagat janani. although hers is a supporting role and not exactly the lead, but without her the story of pk wouldn’t have been half as enriching. sushant singh rajput, in all his understated glory, does a remarkable job as sarfaraz and proves that length of a role doesn’t define quality! sanjay dutt makes us wait a little more eagerly for himto come out of prison and start doing more movies! i was looking forward to watching boman irani in a bigger role. although that that didn’t happen, i have no regrets as he is simply brilliant in whatever little screen time he gets. watch out for the cameo of the year by ranbir kapoor! coming to the writing of the film, it is novel, fresh and signature raju hirani.you can always trust the director to bring an interesting story to the table and execute it with such cinematic brilliance that will leave you awestruck! special mention to abhijat joshi who wrote the film with him. the music by shantanu moitra is breezy, full of pleasant melodies and just apt for a film as cute as pk!what’s not:while there isn’t much to say in this area i thought that the first half of the film could have been tighter with less dilly-dallying. but then again it was the director’s prerogative and was perhaps needed to flesh out the plot for the audience. the plot bore uncanny resemblance toomg (oh! my god)which also explains the delay in pk’s release. nevertheless, that doesn’t diminish the movie-viewing experience of aamir’s film.our verdict:you cannot afford to miss this! aamir has once again proved why he’s ahead of his contemporaries as a visionary and a thinker! we bet you will watch pk more than once. pk, buoyed by a magnificent script and outstanding acting all around, is an uplifting fantasy that springs a surprise at every turn but never overplays its hand.
it comes as close to storytelling perfection as any mainstream hindi movie has done in living memory.
it has great songs, beautifully filmed musical set pieces, brilliant pacing and nary a moment that flags.
as a cinematic send-up on gods true and fake, pk pulls no punches at all and speaks its mind like a carefree child that has just learnt to talk and make sense of the world.

the five-year hiatus between 3 idiots and this film has clearly served them well. the screenwriters have worked a delicately crafted love story into the taut tapestry of pk, thereby lending it an emotional dimension that usually eludes a high-minded satire.
even the principal antagonist in pk, tapasvi maharaj, played superbly by saurabh shukla, isn't an ogre designed to evoke disgust.
pk is out to provoke but not to shock. the film asks questions via its idiot savant protagonist, but does not attempt to deliver facile, absolute answers. and that makes it all the more effective.
pk is propelled primarily by aamir khan's delightfully droll superstar turn as a nameless seer from outer space who is stranded on planet earth - in rajasthan and delhi to be precise.
this is an unlikely saga of an alien who lands in the desert completely naked like a new-born baby and then proceeds to acquire the ways of human adults in a bid to survive in a hostile environment.
his fate hinges on whether he can regain a stolen gadget that he needs in order to return to his home light years away and cling on to his purity as his brushes with mankind becomes increasingly hazardous.
in one of the film's quirkiest scenes, he learns the language of humans by drawing words out of the mind of a sleepy bhojpuri-speaking sex worker that he is led to by his only friend in the desert of rajasthan, band master bhairon singh (sanjay dutt).
the search for the remote control device that he needs to summon his spaceship back to earth eventually sees him end up in india's capital city.

there are very few acting titans in bollywood whose legacy precedes the release of their movies. but when it comes to the khans of bollywood, then it looks like a customary off-shoot preceding as well as succeeding their movies' release. and even among these three iconic khans, it's aamir who leads the league with a huge margin.
besides another thing which seems to have turned into a customary tradition of bollywood is the release of the movie of any one of them to mark the closing stamp on the year. and from past few years it's aamir who is officially marking the culmination of year with one or the other mammoth releases of his. last year it was 'dhoom 3' and this time it's 'pk', which kept the grapevine abuzz soon after its going on the floor.
and ever-since its going on floor, with the passage of time numerous speculations and controversies kept on getting glued to this much awaited cine creation of raju hirani, starring aamir, anushka, sushant singh rajput, sanjay dutt boman irani et al.
initially it was the grapevine stirring poster of the movie, featuring full monty, aamir, which literally took buzz arena by storms. then it was the speculation about aamir's character which kept on tickling the curiosity gut of the viewers and those sitting on the paparazzi chairs. but somehow the makers managed to keep everything pertaining to 'pk' under wraps. now finally this cine spectacles which is also much awaited reunion of aamir and raju hirani is here to charm the masses.
as the 'pk' kick-starts, it shows the landing of an stark naked astronaut (aamir), "not alien", belonging to some other planet in the desert of rajasthan. and this 'non alien astronaut' is here to study about human beings and their life on earth. but soon after arriving on the earth he has a tryst with unexpected, where his tracking device (a remote meant to send back signals to his spaceship) gets stolen. and from here begins his trail of getting back his remote which he needs to have, if he ever wants to return to his spaceship or his native planet.
oblivious about human mannerisms, he starts his search and has a rendezvous with bhairav singh (sanjay dutt) who becomes his pal and in a weird way helps him in learning the human mannerisms too. with frames rolling ahead this "non alien astronaut" lands in delhi where he gets christened as 'pk', obviously because of circumstances in which he often lands. with narration proceeding ahead, one fine day 'pk' meets a tv journalist jagat janani aka jaggu (anushka sharma) who after initial phase of skepticism joins him in his endeavor of finding the stolen remote.
what follows next? does pk succeeds in getting his belonging or he becomes prey to human mannerisms or rather nuisance? to know watch this marvelous cine creation of hirani starring aamir and anushka.
so far whenever aamir and hirani have teamed up together, they have often tossed a cine spectacle for viewers' perusal which has always managed to poke the conscious of those watching it. and so is the case with 'pk' where rationalism with a human touch is the most predominant element which conveniently makes itself stand out.
if we talk about the story line of 'pk' then in one line it can be described as "something which is not just like any other cinematic potpourri dabbled in the treacle of a few "ha ha ha moments!" rather just like any other cine entertainer of hirani, it too has got a latent yet socially relevant message to communicate, but not in a preachy manner.

pk, the film is not quite unique in its inception, sharing space with a very compelling oh my god (2012),directed by umesh shukla. pk, the characters, lands on earth with an intention to understand it. god turns into his subject. and in process of him understanding the power that made us all, he pokes at faulty notions that are developed and protected by us.
like his first two films, hirani's pk is driven by a character and the way he functions. the most delightful part of the film hence is easily the protagonist. the story is about pk's pursuit of god to hear his request. much like kanji lalji mehta of omg, who is told that it is only god who could answer his plea.
the screenplay is woven to provide pk and his actions credibility. the first half is dedicated to establish his plight while the second half moves towards a resolution. clearly the resolution proved tougher. pk has a brilliantly written first half, making it an absolutely delightful ride till the intermission. it makes you laugh and at some point it could even make the tender hearts cry! it entertains certainly. the second half is when things get loose, and you start drawing comparisons with omg, which easily had a stronger second half. pk slacks as it moves towards the end, in contrast with hirani's last three films. nonetheless it ends on a perfect note; one which should leave smile on the viewer.
providing pk the biggest boost is lead actor aamir khan, in probably one of his finest efforts. with wide open eyes that never blink, aamir is at his best. anushka sharma is perfectly cast. sanjay dutt, sushant singh rajput add their bits. there is also parikshit sahni playing the disapproving father reminds of his 3 idiots acts, and saurabh shukla playing the fraud god-man takes us back to his batuk maharaj act in lage raho munnabhai. not to forget the usual suspect boman irani, this time in a perfectly positive role!
the deficit in the screenplay aside, the director in hirani shines again. every other department of filmmaking is top notch. even the songs, which did not quite impress as an independent album, blends perfectly well into the film. it is a film that has the hirani stamp all over it - an entertainer with a message. and of course it too has tremendous repeat value. and yet, pk is not hirani's best!

while entering the theater, i was excited and so were many people in my vicinity. being a rajkumar hirani flick, one can hardly expect disappointing but you never really know. after 3 idiots in 2009, it took hirani a hiatus of five years to come up with pk. but does this deliver enough to live up to its promise? well, i feel proud to say this, hirani has not let us down. aamir khan this time in pk has left no stone unturned and has put in his best for his role. from his physique to his language, the actor is simply brilliant. indulging himself in a role of an innocent outsider(the role which suits aamir perfectly), he speaks more with his expressions than any of the actors do with their words. with aamir on the frontier, it is hardly fair game for the remnant of the crew to show their finesse. quite to the contrary, anushka plays an adequately important role in doing her best to ameliorate the humour. sanjay dutt who appears in parts is also fabulous. now, the screenplay. magnificent. every dialogue and the successive is written, furnished and polished with extreme care and prowess. music by ankit tiwari does not differ from the director's previous movies, they are quite decent and go hand in hand with the plot. i went to the theater excited and came out learning something. pk is a movie which entertains you every minute with its creativity in successfully creating an atmosphere of humour and exuberance. pk is out to provoke but not to shock. the film asks questions via its idiot savant protagonist, but does not attempt to deliver facile, absolute answers. and that makes it all the more effective. pk is an adventure which will make you laugh heartily, make you feel heart rended and make you learn to let go, simultaneously promulgating a message. pk is something i would describe, as an emotional roller-coaster. pk is an experience of a life time.
if you have people with orthodox thinking in your proximity or people who are led to blind beliefs of religious drama or are puritanical, pk is just the movie for them. for others, this goes without saying, a must watch.

first things first, when you go to watch a rajkumar hirani film, the yardsticks are different. you don’t just pay to get entertained, but also to get enlightened, as each of his films carry a social message. in that regard, pk falls well short in the second half after an outstanding first. the first half is rip roaring and brings the house down with plenty of trademark hirani moments. in the second half, the pace begins to dip. (spoiler alert) the bomb blast scene was unnecessary and you fail to understand the purpose it served. the romantic angle between jaggu and pk was definitely not needed when a cute friendship would have sufficed just as much. the second half felt a little too similar to ‘omg: oh my god’ and the tv show scenes just did not hit home the point as well as it should have. it wasn’t even clear what hirani was trying to say. was the film about inter-religion marriage, atheism or superstition? 5 years after 3 idiots, arguably the most entertaining film of the last decade, aamir khan, rajkumar hirani and abhijat joshi (writer)
eturn with a film titled ‘pk’. expectations of a wholesome entertainer are sky-high. the buzz around pk has slowly but surely built up and the trailers have created tremendous curiosity amongst the audience. comparisons with classics like munnabhai m.b.b.s, lage raho munnabhai and 3 idiots will be inevitable. so does pk fulfil all those lofty expectations? let’s find out!
story: jagat janani (anushka sharma) encounters a strange man (aamir khan) with strange habits and an unusual lingo while traveling in delhi. he says his name is pk. he says a lot of things which makes jaggu feel that he is lying. no sane human would take his words as the truth. he pees in public places to get himself locked up in delhi lockups to escape the rains. he steals money from beggars. he doesn’t understand how life on earth works. he is looking for a thing very dear to him. he asks god for it repeatedly, but doesn’t get any reply. there begins his journey to understand life and in that process he makes us all understand what life is all about.
first things first, when you go to watch a rajkumar hirani film, the yardsticks are different. you don’t just pay to get entertained, but also to get enlightened, as each of his films carry a social message. in that regard, pk falls well short in the second half after an outstanding first. the first half is rip roaring and brings the house down with plenty of trademark hirani moments. in the second half, the pace begins to dip. (spoiler alert) the bomb blast scene was unnecessary and you fail to understand the purpose it served. the romantic angle between jaggu and pk was definitely not needed when a cute friendship would have sufficed just as much. the second half felt a little too similar to ‘omg: oh my god’ and the tv show scenes just did not hit home the point as well as it should have. it wasn’t even clear what hirani was trying to say. was the film about inter-religion marriage, atheism or superstition?

the technical aspects of pk are top notch. the cinematography is excellent. both delhi and bruges are captured beautifully. the editing by hirani himself is spot on although the duration could have been cut short by a further 5-10 minutes to speed up proceedings in the second half. the music of pk suits the tone of the film and the songs are pleasing to the ears.
pk has to count amongst the best ever performances of aamir khan. to say he is amazing in and as pk would be an understatement. the type of commitment he has shown in the film is terrific. his mannerisms, his expressions and his hold of bhojpuri sets an example for other actors to emulate. pk will always be a special aamir khan role. anushka is very good as jagat janani although there are shades of her character from jab tak hai jaan in pk. she is charming and lovable. sushant singh rajput plays his part well. saurabh shukla is a knockout as the main force of opposition in pk and is probably hirani’s all out black character. boman irani has an insignificant role. sanjay dutt has a small role to play, he does well.
overall, if the first half of pk made us feel like hirani was at his very best, the second could possibly be his worst so far. it felt like the post-interval portions were directed by a different director and not hirani. one of the hallmarks of a hirani film are the strong supporting characters and pk has no character that stands out. there was too much focus on pk and that’s what undid the film. having said that, pk is definitely better than 95\% of the films that are made in bollywood. it deserves a watch but doesn’t have the repeat value of 3 idiots or munnabhai films. don’t make the mistake of expecting too much and pk will keep you hooked.

पीके�(आमिर खान) एक एलियन है, जिसे धरती पर इसलिए भेजा जाता है ताकि वो उन जैसे दिखने वाले लोगों के बारे में पता लगा सके, लेकिन धरती पर कदम रखते ही पीके का लॉके�� जिसे वो रिमो�� कं��्रोल कहता है, एक आदमी चुरा लेता है। रिमो�� के बिना वो अपने ग्रह से संपर्क नहीं कर पाता और रिमो�� की तलाश में घूमना शुरू कर देता है। दूसरी तरफ, दिल्ली की रहने वाली जगत जननी उर्फ जग्गू (अनुष्का शर्मा) जो विदेश में रहकर पढ़ाई कर रही होती है उसे सरफराज (सुशांत सिंह राजपूत) से प्यार हो जाता है, लेकिन उसके घरवाले तपस्वी महाराज (सड़रभ शुक्ला) के कहने पर इस रिश्ते को नामंजूर कर देते हैं। तपस्वी का कहना होता है कि सरफराज जग्गू को धोखा देगा। ऐसा ही होता है और बाद में जग्गू दिल्ली लड़�� आती है।�दिल्ली लड़��कर जग्गू एक न्यूज चैनल ज्वाइन कर लेती है। इधर रिमो�� की तलाश में पीके भी दिल्ली आ जाता है। जग्गू की जब पहली बार पीके से मुलाकात होती है तो उसे एक स्��ोरी नजर आती है। ऐसे में वो पीके का पीछा करती है और उससे पुलिस स्��ेशन में मुलाकात करती है। पीके जब अपने बारे में ये बताता है कि वो दूसरे ग्रह से आया है तो उसे यकीन नहीं होता, लेकिन बाद में पीके इस बात का यकीन दिलाने में कामयाब हो जाता है। अब अनुष्का पीके की रिमो�� ढूंढने में मदद करती है। इसके बाद कहानी में कई रोमांचक मोड़ आते हैं जो आपको हंसने पर मजबूर कर देते हैं, लेकिन कहानी में क्या होता है ये तो आपको सिनेमाघरों में ही जाकर देखना होगा।�'धरती पर बड़ा कनफ्यूजन है भाई'धरती पर आकर पीके इस बात को महसूस करता है कि यहां के लोगों की सिर्फ बोली ही अलग नहीं है, बल्कि भगवान भी अलग-अलग है। यहां तक की पूजी करने का ढंग भी एक-दूसरे से जुदा है। जैसे, लोग मंदिरों में नंगे पैर जाते हैं वहीं गिरजाघरों में जूते पहनकर चले जाते हैं। पीके को इस बात का भी कनफ्यूजन रहता है कि हिंदू धर्म की विधवा सफेद साड़ी पहनती है। वहीं ईसाई धर्म की लड़की सफेद गाउन में शादी करती है। ईसाई धर्म को काई व्यक्ति मरता है तो वो ब्लैक कपड़े पहनते हैं, जबकि मुस्लिम लड़कियां आमतड़र पर ब्लैक बुरका पहनती है।�पीके की भाषा है मजेदार�पीके जो दूसरे ग्रह का होता है भोजपुरी बोलना सीख लेता है। ऐसे में वो प्लीज को पलीज, ग्रह को गोला, मतलब को मतबल के साथ कई मजेदार लहजे में बोलता है। आमिर के मुंह से ये डायलॉग आपको मजा आएगा।�पीके ने लोगों को बताया 'रॉन्ग नंबर'पीके को जब ये मालूम होता है कि धरती पर रहने वाले लोग भगवान के नाम पर तपस्वी जैसे लोगों से रॉन्ग नंबर लगा रहे हैं। यानी तपस्वी अपने स्वार्थ के लिए लोगों का इस्तेमाल कर रहा है। इतना ही नहीं, कई बार लोग बिना पूरी बात जाने परिणाम तय कर लेते हैं। ऐसे में रॉन्ग नंबर को राइ�� नंबर बताने के लिए वो अपने अलग ही तर्क देता है। साथ ही, अपनी बातों को उदाहरण के साथ बताता है। Posted By : Nikhil Agrawal On 26 Jan 2015 |
