sing the six sidekicks of aliya raj (shenaz treasurywala), while aliya and sukhi (barun sobti) look into the distance and imagine how their first meeting would have been if aliya wasn't paying him to be her boyfriend. main aur mr riight is the story of an obssessive compulsive casting director in her late twenties who is constantly badgered by her friends to find a man before she turns into an old, wrinkly cat lady. enter sukhwinder singh, a down-on-his-luck struggler from "the delhi" who has come to mumbai to become an actor. to put an end to her friends' nagging, aliya promises sukhi a role in the upcoming big budget production kabhi kabhi luv and a tempting amount of cash in exchange for him pretending to be her rich, well educated, "cultured and well spoken" and london-residing boyfriend. the ploy works for a while, until sukhi starts inspiring the high-society sociopaths that aliya calls friends, to come clean and lead their lives honestly. all hell breaks loose and aliya finds herself attracted to sukhi. will her mr wrong actually turn out to be mr right? i think you already know the answer to that. the villian of the story is the casting couch and the hero, ms treasurywala's cosmetic surgeon. main aur mr riight is an a desi-fied, darker and deeply deranged version of the debra messing-dermot mulroney starrer the wedding date. i wish i could tell you about things like direction, script or talent but i would have to see some of that myself. bappi lahiri's music comes across as juvenile. barun sobti fares better than his costars in the acting department. main aur mr riight is a tad too pretentiously philosophical to be taken seriously.

titli is a bollywood drama movie directed by kanu behl and produced by aditya chopra under the banner of yash raj films and dibakar banerjee productions pvt. ltd. the movie features actors ranvir shorey, amit sial, shashank arora, lalit behl and shivani raghuvanshi in the lead roles. the international sales partner is westend films the film is expected to release at the end of the year 2014. the directorial debut film was selected to take part in the un certain regard section of the 2014 cannes film festival. the only other indian film selected for the year was an animation short. story: in the badlands of delhi's underbelly, titli, the youngest member of a violent car-jacking brotherhood, plots a desperate bid to escape the illegal 'family' business and an oppressive brother. his schemes are thwarted by his unruly brothers, who marry him off against his will. but titli finds an unlikely ally in his new wife, neelu, who nurtures her own frustrated dreams. they form a strange, mutually exploitative pact to break the stranglehold of their family roots.

happy ending is the story of yudi (saif ali khan) who has written just one book, which was a bestseller and since then he is just planning his next book. fame has managed to get him lucky with women and that's what keeps him busy. he will flirt but won't commit to a long-term relationship. yudi is seeing vishaka (kalki koechlin) a dentist by profession who is crazy about him but he keeps her at an arms distance. he tries to call off the relationship a couple of times but fails. since yudi is wasting the publisher's time they rope in a new author aanchal (ileana d'cruz) who writes romantic novels. yudi is now frustrated and is looking for work. his agent introduces him to armaan (govinda) a fading star who wants yudi to write a blockbuster film for him and also wants him to copy scenes from various hollywood hits. he keeps a stack of original english dvd's in front of yudi and asks him to lift scenes from each one of them. while trying to mock the cliches this film becomes a victim. some jokes are funny in this 2 hours 15 minute film, which seems quite long. the film is shot in la (don't know for what joy!) it could have been mumbai or delhi and it wouldn't make any difference to the story. in fact it would work well for the economics of the film.

pk, the film is not quite unique in its inception, sharing space with a very compelling oh my god (2012),directed by umesh shukla. pk, the characters, lands on earth with an intention to understand it. god turns into his subject. and in process of him understanding the power that made us all, he pokes at faulty notions that are developed and protected by us. like his first two films, hirani's pk is driven by a character and the way he functions. the most delightful part of the film hence is easily the protagonist. the story is about pk's pursuit of god to hear his request. much like kanji lalji mehta of omg, who is told that it is only god who could answer his plea. the screenplay is woven to provide pk and his actions credibility. the first half is dedicated to establish his plight while the second half moves towards a resolution. clearly the resolution proved tougher. pk has a brilliantly written first half, making it an absolutely delightful ride till the intermission. it makes you laugh and at some point it could even make the tender hearts cry! it entertains certainly. the second half is when things get loose, and you start drawing comparisons with omg, which easily had a stronger second half. pk slacks as it moves towards the end, in contrast with hirani's last three films. nonetheless it ends on a perfect note; one which should leave smile on the viewer. providing pk the biggest boost is lead actor aamir khan, in probably one of his finest efforts. with wide open eyes that never blink, aamir is at his best. anushka sharma is perfectly cast. sanjay dutt, sushant singh rajput add their bits. there is also parikshit sahni playing the disapproving father reminds of his 3 idiots acts, and saurabh shukla playing the fraud god-man takes us back to his batuk maharaj act in lage raho munnabhai. not to forget the usual suspect boman irani, this time in a perfectly positive role! the deficit in the screenplay aside, the director in hirani shines again. every other department of filmmaking is top notch. even the songs, which did not quite impress as an independent album, blends perfectly well into the film. it is a film that has the hirani stamp all over it - an entertainer with a message. and of course it too has tremendous repeat value. and yet, pk is not hirani's best!
