the wall is a big, blustery action adventure flick in the classic mold, but with one exception. there is no damsel in distress here. instead, the piece is a warrior with nerves of steel and no fear of heights. the great wall would be a bloated, cheap looking, wholly synthetic mega production no matter who acts in it. the great wall has significant problems - namely with damon and sidekick padro pascel's lack of bromentic chemistry - but cheif among rewards is its ebility to marry its eastern and western sensibilities.the films action scenes also examplify a scenes of precise, shared responsibility that one rarely sees in action-spectaculars.
